According to media reports, the U.S. manned lunar probe Artemis 2 has been launched towards the moon. It is the first time in more than 50 years that a human has gone out of orbit on a spacecraft since Apollo 17 in 1972.

There is a manned capsule carrying astronauts atop the rocket, which is named the Orion spacecraft. One of the main missions of the Orion spacecraft is to explore the back of the moon. So far, no spacecraft has explored the back of the moon. The Orion spacecraft is expected to return around April 10.
